Peter Crocker

Attorney and Counselor at Law

About Peter

I opened the Law Office of Peter Crocker, PLLC, in Port Townsend in January of 2018, and expanded into Seattle in 2022.

I graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2012. Prior to entering private practice, I worked as in-house counsel for a federally-recognized Indian tribe on the Washington coast. There, I advised and litigated on a range of issues, including contracts, land use, natural resources, and treaty fishing rights, which involved federal, state, and tribal law. Those issues called on me to understand and apply numerous laws across the federal, state, and tribal spectrums

However, I have spent my adult life completing projects and navigating widely varied workplaces and professional relationships. Beyond my legal education, my law practice is informed by my earlier careers as a carpenter and as a commercial fisherman. All of these experiences combine to provide a helpful and unique perspective through which to approach legal issues. When I’m not practicing law, my interests include carpentry, swimming, songwriting, and hiking.

Professional Philosophy

Lawyers operate in two basic modes, counseling and advocacy. Counseling involves working proactively to avoid problems, creating avenues and procedures for problem-solving. Advocacy involves working proactively or responsively to address problems or conflicts when they cannot be avoided. I work in both modes.

In areas such as family law, estate planning, and drafting contracts, I counsel clients by helping them prepare for anticipated or unanticipated circumstances by drafting documents that provide clarity and lead to outcomes that are fair and reasonable. Whether your family circumstances don’t allow for a traditional parenting plan or you need to begin thinking about estate planning and the emotional decisions involved, the Law Office of Peter Crocker can help you navigate through the complexity.

If a dispute arises, or has arisen, and a reasonable and fair agreement is impossible, advocacy may be required. At those times, I will litigate your case with diligence, integrity, and strength. Whether working as counselor or advocate, I work hard to ensure that my clients’ interests are protected.

Moreover, these two modes are closely interrelated, as keeping clients informed of the status always a big part of the lawyer’s job.
